Bulk order lead-time planning checklist
By Sales Team
1. Is this a catalog item or a custom spec? Catalog items skip tooling lead time entirely — custom specs add design confirmation and, sometimes, tooling fabrication before production starts.
2. What's your real hard deadline, not the one padded for safety? Tell us the actual date and we'll flag immediately if it's not achievable, rather than quoting an optimistic date and missing it.
3. Do you need the full order in one shipment, or is a staged delivery workable? Staging can shorten the time to your first usable units significantly.
4. Have you ordered this exact spec from us before? Repeat orders on an existing tooling setup are meaningfully faster than first-time production.
5. What's your shipping destination? Freight transit time is a real chunk of total lead time, and we plan dispatch dates around it, not just production completion.
6. Is there flexibility on quantity if it shortens lead time? Sometimes producing a slightly smaller first batch gets you usable parts weeks earlier, with a second batch to follow.
